About Care Considered

Choosing care for an aging parent is one of the hardest, highest-stakes decisions a family makes — usually in a hurry, often in crisis, and surrounded by sites trying to sell them something. Care Considered exists to give families the same official quality data the government collects, organized so it's actually usable, with no sales pitch and no sponsored rankings.

What we do

We bring together every Medicare-certified home health agency, hospice, nursing home, and inpatient rehabilitation facility in the country — with their official CMS quality ratings, patient and family-caregiver survey scores, staffing levels, inspection and penalty records, and service areas — in one place you can search by ZIP or browse by state. We also publish original research computed from that data, designed to be cited.

Where our data comes from

Every rating, score, and statistic comes from the CMS Provider Data Catalog (data.cms.gov) — the same public files behind Medicare's own Care Compare tool — refreshed quarterly, with population figures from the U.S. Census Bureau. We compute our rankings and reports directly from those files and state the methodology and data vintage on every page. We do not collect our own reviews, and we never adjust a provider's numbers.

How we stay independent

No provider pays to be listed, ranked, or rated on Care Considered. Every Medicare-certified provider appears automatically, and rankings come solely from official CMS measures. If we ever carry advertising, it will be clearly labeled and will never influence listings, ratings, or research. That separation is the entire point of the site.
